Susan Carnell and Mike Lorenger, both former partners in Hogan & Hartson LLP’s Labor and Employment Group, founded Lorenger & Carnell, PLC in February 2007 in order to provide their clients with top notch legal services at small-firm rates. The firm’s practice is focused on representing employers in both litigation and counseling.

What’s New

• In September 2008, we won the complete dismissal of several employment discrimination claims for a large public utility company in the District of Columbia Superior Court.
• We have continued our success in responding to charges of discrimination filed with the EEOC and local agencies, winning several dismissals. One recent victory was on behalf of a high-profile local entity that was forced to defend an extraordinarily sensitive charge of race discrimination before the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights.
• During the summer of 2008, Mr. Lorenger served as the featured presenter in three national webcasts concerning best practices for complying with the overtime exemptions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Ms. Carnell was the featured presenter in a September 2008 national webcast discussing best practices for conducting internal investigations.
• For the second consecutive year, Mr. Lorenger has been identified by Chambers USA as a notable practitioner in labor & employment law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
